What the research actually shows
A 2024 McKinsey report found that across professional knowledge work roles, AI is expected to automate 30–70% of tasks — not 30–70% of jobs. The distinction matters enormously. The Harvard Business School study on consultants using AI found those with AI access completed tasks 25% faster and produced 40% higher quality work.
The actual risk: not being replaced by AI, but being outpaced
